Bais Chesed of Los Angeles (BCLA) is an umbrella chesed organization serving the Los Angeles Jewist Community. This organization was created with the intent to fill specfific voids of chesed and charity in our community. BCLA is unaffiliated with any shul or organization.
Our mission is to serve our community, one family at a time, based on their individual needs. BCLA wil accomplish this through mobilizing a community network of volunteer effort and financial support.
Our initial divisions will include:
Kehilla Fund
A Charity fund focusing on household emergency needs.
Loan Fund
Providing interest free loans to cover specific family needs to those who qualify.
BCLA was created in memory of two special Neshomas
Chana Leah (Lynn) Garfinkel was one of those rare people who genuinly got pleasure from being good to others because she truly loved and respected people. She spent her life trying to help others fulfill their goals and dreams. Her children, her friends, her students and her neighbors always felt that they were dealing with someone who held nothing back. She listened, she cared, and she wasn't afraid to get involved.
Shimi Grama's love for people and chesed was legendary. In his short 21 years he made an incredible impression on hundreds of people. His shining smile and warmth endeared him to all who knew him. Shimi strove to fill the needs of people, and did his chesed with a cheshbon. We have chosen to help memorialize him through Bais Chesed, an organization that strives to fill the needs of our community.
